My name is Amanda Kaufman and I am a junior, double majoring in Public Administration and Political Science, and minoring in Economics. I traveled to New Orleans while taking this course last year, and it had such an impact on me that I had to do it again. Hurricane Katrina brought to the forefront many underlying issues that need to be addressed at various levels in society. The classroom allowed us to examine these issues, but it was using that knowledge while experiencing New Orleans firsthand, that made this experience truly memorable. Taking this course again was amazing and only strengthened my knowledge and awareness. I urge everyone to visit New Orleans, whether it’s through taking this course, with an organization, or on their own—I know I’ll be back again!
